About VREurope
VREurope represents an educational initiative aimed at change learning methodologies through the integration of Virtual Reality (VR) technology with language, culture, and historical studies. This initiative is driven by the objective of enhancing educational engagement and facilitating deeper comprehension of historical events.
Central to the VREurope project is the utilization of advanced technological tools such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), and Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR). These tools serve to create VR simulations that enable learners to interact with historical contexts in a dynamic and experiential manner.
The overarching goal of VREurope is to foster interdisciplinary understanding and cross-cultural exchange by providing learners with an immersive platform for exploring significant historical events. Through the utilization of VR simulations, learners are afforded unique opportunities to engage with historical narratives and develop a nuanced understanding of the past.
Goal and Objectives
The overall purpose of the project is to create an online multiplayer, hybrid e-learning system that combines language, culture and history learning with a multiplayer Virtual Reality Simulation (intended as social gaming), thereby providing a “flight simulator” experience for learning, which is available for self-study as well as blended learning across different ages and teaching institutions. The concrete objectives are therefore:
- A language curriculum for each partner language + English
- A culture curriculum for each partner language + English
- Identification of interesting and important historical events that take that can be turned into a virtual reality experience and played based on the developed curriculum.
- A multilingual e-learning platform incorporating speech recognition for verbal interaction and dialogue practice, which also uses artificial intelligence to guide the learner’s path for optimal learning.
- A number of Multiplayer Virtual Reality scenarios, escape room design, depicting significant historial events with which the learners can interact and where situations have to be resolved in order to let the historical event take place.
