THE UMTMS PROJECT TAKES ASTEP FORWARD

The simulator

The Simulator which is the main output of the project is in progress.
After several meetings and discusssions on the elaboration of the simulator and the 3D engine room has finally emerged with its flexible and movable components and tools.

New Components as cooling and compressor systems have been added to the simulator and finally it’s ready to run. High Temperature and Low Temperature system and central water system are activated. Ship compressor system also has taken its place on the simulator. The trouble shooting scenarios have been tested and they are fully compatible with the simulator and they work in full capacity.

The created simulation can be used as a real life laboratory for formal education students. Students will be able to repeat all their studies related to their curriculum independent from time and place and will be able to learn new things. Since the simulator will not create electronic waste, it will offer an approach that supports an environmentally friendly green Europe, not only for formal education students but also for non-formal education students.

It can also be used in adult education. Companies can benefit from this simulator as an element of increasing the quality in the in-service training of their staff in the scope of maritime. Disabled individuals who cannot continue their education due to health problems will be able to learn a lot of new information about ship machinery and vehicles in the engine room from where they are. Individuals’ education and training will be able to continue thanks to this simulator.

NEXT STEPS

Now the UMTMS Team is looking forward to the LTT which will held in Denmark İn 26 May-1 June 2024 at the same time with the Odense Maritime festival. Odense Maritime Festival is a great dissemination and introduction oppurtnity for the UMTMS project. Taking place as UMTMS Project Group among international maritime companies in such an explicit organisation might also lead to future partnerships collaboratin and cooperation in the sector.
